The Ferguson Forum began in 2014 following the murder of Michael Brown. The Forum is dedicated to discussing concepts of race and racism in higher education.
Join us for our 6th Annual Ferguson Forum on the evening of September 17th, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm featuring KU Alumni and original members of the student activism movement Rock Chalk Invisible Hawk.
Trinity Carpenter, Mercedes Bounthapanya, Jyleesa Hampton and Cindy Nguyen are our honored guests for the evening.
2020 marks the 5th anniversary of the Rock Chalk Invisible Hawk movement. These students demanded campus accountability around social justice issues, in particular the experiences of Black and brown queer and trans students in the classroom. Meet four of the jay hawks that helped push for a more equitable and just campus. Here them reflect on their experiences during that time, and what do they make of their movement years later.
The Panel is happening on Zoom, followed by a Q&A with the audience and panelists.
