Where To Go...Now You Know
What is it?
Where To Go...Now You Know is a resource guide for KU students to find culturally-specific places in the Lawrence area. There are five different Where To Go...Now You Know cards that list places for students to: buy groceries; worship; get haircuts, styles and nails; eat out; and find academic resources
Resource recommendations are from the four cultural student groups that work with the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA): Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO), Black Student Union (BSU), Asian American Student Union (AASU) and First Nations Student Association (FNSA).
How it came about
Camille Clark
When Camille Clark was a freshman at KU, she had a hard time finding somewhere she could get her hair done. "There aren't many salons that specialize in African-American hair and the few that did were hard to find because it was all through word-of-mouth," said Camille. "There were no resource guides, no maps, just a lot of trial and error."
Because of that experience, Camille imagined other students of color may have had similar concerns. "I thought it would be helpful to have a guide to help students make their search process a little easier." Working for the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Camille turned those thoughts into Where To Go…Now You Know. Now KU students have a resource for finding what they need quickly and easily.
That's Camille's Where To Go...Now You Know story. Now submit yours.
