Introductory Letter

On behalf of the University of Kansas and ACPA-College Student Educators International, we are pleased to extend an invitation to attend the twelfth annual Symposium on the Recruitment & Retention of Students of Color: "Connecting the Circle," April 20-22, 2009. This Symposium is designed to facilitate the exchange of strategies, techniques, and ideas. In addition, it provides an opportunity for collaboration between academic affairs and student affairs professionals.

The focus of the Symposium is undergraduate recruitment and retention (including admissions, housing, and advising). Undergraduate recruitment explores the issues that affect college choice and preparation and the influence educators have on those central issues. Undergraduate retention addresses the role of the campus and local community in supporting students of color as they matriculate through graduation.

We have an excellent line-up of keynote speakers and workshops that will be instrumental in assisting your home institution in areas of recruitment and retention. In addition, the Symposium will provide opportunities to meet, network, and learn from other higher education professionals from across the country who are dedicated to serving the needs of students of color. Please register as soon as possible as space is limited. We look forward to seeing you at the Symposium!

Sincerely,

Symposium Committee
